Creating content isn’t easy.
Coming up with great ideas & knowing exactly what to post — not easy.
In fact, it’s such a struggle for some businesses that they give up trying.
I wrote this blog post for those businesses.

Yep… the kind that get crazy Likes & Comments.

3 Kinds of Facebook Posts that Get Crazy Likes and Comments
Posting great content on Facebook starts with knowing what kinds of posts are possible. I’ve broken them down into six types:
- Other People’s Content
- Website/Blog posts

Now I’d like to break down the first 3 of these post types — and also give you some examples.
Images are the cornerstone of Facebook.
Why? Because fans love pictures.
People are so overloaded with information these days that they naturally gravitate toward things that are easy to consume & absorb.
Images are both.
And I’m here to tell you that if you post the right images on Facebook, you will get crazy Likes & Comments.
Facebook users love funny pics.
But as a business, you should always remember your audience. They might not appreciate endless streams of random LOL photos. Sure, the images may get you some viral sharing — but in the end, too many of them could do more harm than good.
So how should you use funny images?
Let’s take this example of a funny egg photo.
If you’re a restaurant with a fan page, this image could be a good opportunity to crack a joke about eggs (pun intended).
Or maybe you could use the image as a jumping off point for a story. For example, do you have a story of related to your business or niche that can be related to a poor broken egg?
For me, as a social media specialist, I’d talk about that one business owner who didn’t implement social media into their marketing — and this is what happened to his business.
That’s just an example, obviously. But my point is if you’re creative, you can always find a clever way to relate a funny image to your niche.
Does this mean you should post endless cat photos?
Not necessarily. Cat photos are definitely popular on the web — and I’m not against using them. But you need to use them wisely.
For example, the image to the right is funny — but a bit obnoxious. It’s an example of what’s out there — but it might not be the best post for a business.
The key here is moderation. Don’t just post a bunch of funny images on your page with no rhyme or reason behind it.
For example, if you are a dentist & you’re posting nothing but cat pics all the time — people will probably start to doubt your authority, and might even unlike your page.
So use funny images wisely.
Below is an eye-catching image I found on Pinterest — it’s unique & makes you look at it twice.
Images like this can definitely get crazy Likes & Comments. But they have to be unique catch people’s eyes.
The one below is so interesting that it makes you ask yourself, “Is this real?” It’s also cool enough that it makes you want to share it with your friends.
And that’s the goal: to get your content shared — so more people can Like & Comment on it.
One great source for eye-catching images that I check all the time is the I love creative designs and unusual ideas Facebook page.
They have awesome travel images & tons of eye-catching photos. The image below is just one example:
Once again, I’m not advising that you just randomly post images to get shares. You need to relate the image to your page, business or niche — or to a timely topic.
If I were to use the above image & relate it to social media, for example, I’d write something like:
Does social media sometimes feel like a never ending tunnel? Why?
Asking a question with the image — especially one related to your business — keeps the material focused.
Another of my favorite Facebook pages for photos is Pool Supply World’s page.
They have an extremely visual business & page.
They post photos of exotic pools like the one to the right — photos that grab your eye & makes you dream about pools & travelling.
Pool Supply is fortunate to be in such a great visual business — but they also do an excellent job of asking for Shares, Likes & Comments on their posts.

Images with Tips
At 15 Minute Social, we create a lot of images with our own tips. We then brand the image with our logo.
This is a good move because even if your photo gets shared, then your brand goes with it.
Adding a tip to an image is simple.
- write down the Top 20 most frequently asked questions in your niche
- answer the questions with short 1-2 sentence answers (these are your tips)
- add the tips to your images
Images with Quotes
Quote images are very similar to the Tip images.
You can find quotes related to your industry — or even create some yourself — and then turn them into an image.
To the right is an example of a quote image.
Office & Business Images
If you have an office location, do you post images from there?
Office antics, perhaps? Pictures of clients?
I work with quite a few Orthodontists, for example. One of them, Lakeville Orthodontics, uses lots of pictures from their office.
What kinds of photos do they post?
- kids spinning the “birthday wheel”
- “after” pictures of clients when they get their braces off
- patients goofing around
- staff pictures
- and more!

So if your business is in a visual industry or niche — a Contractor, Realtor, or Interior Designer, etc. — then you should have a ton of images to show off.
My husband & I own a contractor company — so we use the images of each project on our fan page.
Another company that does an excellent job showing off their projects on their Facebook Page is Lennar Homes.
They build homes all over the country — so they have plenty of awesome homes to show off. Like this one:
What if you don’t have a visual business?
He also mentions the guidelines on sharing other people’s photos — but it doesn’t hurt for me to mention them again:
It is important when you take something off the web, that you reference where it came from. Referencing is not only for legal purposes, but it is proper “netiquette”.
Infographics are getter hotter & hotter every month.
What is an infographic?
It’s a visual image that teaches (my definition).
Here’s Wikipedia’s definition:
Information graphics or info-graphics are graphic visual representations of information, data or knowledge intended to present complex information quickly & clearly.
Here’s an example of a teaching infographic from ReadWrite.com that actually relates to this blog post:
(It teaches the “Gangnam Style” dance steps in a cute, attention-grabbing, simple way. This is why infographics are so powerful: quick teaching/learning.)
You may be saying to yourself, my business doesn’t have anything I can teach in an infographic.
I highly doubt this.
Think hard. I bet you can come up with something.
What are the 10 top questions customers ask? Could you turn the answers into something visual?
Sure you could!
Is there a story behind your business? Or interesting data that you’ve collected via your operations?
The ideas are endless.
Infographics, most likely, are not something you can do yourself unless you are good with graphic design & have the time to put into it.
If you hire out, you should choose a concept that can be used over & over for your business — because the time a graphic designer has to put into these images is not cheap.
Questions are at the top of the list for text content because they generate engagement.
What’s the best kind of question?
Short, simple & to-the-point! Here are some examples:
- Facebook or Twitter?
- Couch, Loveseat or Recliner?
- What’s the best way to read a book: audio, kindle or hard copy?
Multiple choice questions like this are great because they give people choices — and make them more likely to answer.
Wouldn’t you rather take a multiple choice test than an open ended question test?
Multiple choice, of course.
Why? Because the questions are easier & quicker to answer.
And this is exactly why they’re more likely to get engagement on Facebook.

People crave a little motivation. They want to learn. Quotes are a simple way to motivate & teach.
You can use business quotes, success quotes, quotes about different holidays — the list goes on & on.
Below are four ways to get different quotes for your business.
- A Motivational Quote Calendar
- Quote Apps on your iPhone
- Seeing a quote on Facebook then saving & reusing it later
Just remember not to just steal the quote & not give credit to the person who wrote it.
A tip is a simple way to educate your fans.
How do you come up with tips?
As discussed above: the best way is to write a list of commonly asked questions in your business — and then answer each question with a tip.
Fill-in-the-blanks are similar to questions. They are simple & tend to get crazy Likes & Comments.
Here are some examples (again from the Post Planner Status Ideas Engine):
- My favorite social media site is _______________.
- I’ve lived in ___________cities in my life.
- Fill in the blank. I laugh every time I think about ______. [You can tell people to fill in the blank]
Have fun with these — but be careful not to leave the blank too open-ended for a potentially bad response.

Any time you can show off your business with testimonials & success stories, you should.
It gives social proof to your business.
There are different ways you can make a testimonial post, but plain text works fine.
One simple example is to grab screenshot of a testimonial from a recent online review — and then include the link to it in the caption of the image.
For example, did your business recently get a review on Google Places, Yelp, Houzz, Angie’s List, etc.?
Looks like you got some material then.
Video is a super HOT marketing tool right now.
And if you are willing to be in the videos yourself, then you can connect & build trust with your audience faster than any other form of content.
It’s crazy how many business owners don’t know that Google owns YouTube.
Why is this important?
Because YouTube has crazy powerful SEO benefits. For example, I’ve been able to index many of my clients’ videos on the 1st page of Google within days, not months.
This is a HUGE benefit of videos about your business.
What should you create videos about?
Here are 4 ideas:
Happy customer testimonials give social proof to how great your product is.
Record your customers talking about your product & how they’ve gotten results & love it.
Here is an example of a testimonial video that has a great story:
Teach. Teach. Teach!
Teaching shows you are an authority in your business. It shows you know what you’re talking about.
In my opinion, one of the best teachers of video is James Wedmore.
Here’s an example of an ‘educating video.’ It is relative to the next point too, about telling stories:
Stories about your business — client stories, success stories, etc. — all of these make for awesome videos!
Remember, facts tell & stories sell.
So use stories.

Are you launching a new product? Speaking at an upcoming event?
Video is the best way to promote an event, product launch, or your overall business.
There are many ways you can do a promotional video. You can create one where you are talking to the camera, do an interview-style where you interview someone, a cartoon-style, animated, white board… and the list goes on.
Below are some examples of great promotional videos:
