Do you feel like a ghost when it comes to your Facebook presence?
If you only expect to reach your Facebook page fans through organic posts, then chances are, you're feeling that way.
According to the Locowise Facebook Analyser, the average organic reach of Facebook page posts is currently 10.59%.
If you're someone like me who has 6,000 fans and likes to share articles related to the marketing industry -- you might get lucky and have a post that organically reaches 13.3% of your audience.
But more than likely -- you're probably looking at something like this.
There's nothing sadder than knowing my post was only seen by 28 people when I have 6,000 fans.
So the question is, how do you get in front of your own fans?
You can't stop posting great organic posts to your Facebook page. And you can't only rely on your organic Facebook page posts.
Facebook offers a ton of other features -- and it's about time we all start using them.
In this post, I'm going to give you tips you can start implementing today to help you get seen more on Facebook.
12 Tips to Help You Get Seen More on Facebook
Tip #1: Tell Your Fans to See You in the News Feed First
In the past, the only way to ensure that your fans see posts from your Facebook page without buying ads was to convince them to get notifications from your page.
Many people weren't comfortable doing this because they didn't want their notifications going off every time their favorite pages published a new post.
Especially if those notifications showed up on their iPhone lock screen, in their inbox, or other intrusive areas.
But now -- you have a better way to encourage your fans to make sure they don't miss your Facebook page posts. Ask them to see your page's posts first in their news feed.
You can encourage them to do this in a variety of ways. One way is to create a post that tells your fans how to do it.
Or better yet, capitalize on the higher organic reach of video by creating a quick screencast of how people can see your page first in their news feed -- and pin that post to the top of your page.
If you're good at Screenflow or a similar screencasting tool, it could literally take you five minutes to create a video that helps you get seen more on Facebook!
Tip #2: Post More Interesting Stuff
After you tell your fans to start seeing you at the top of their news feed, you better start giving them some great content.

Tip #3: Be Seen on Your Page
Are people commenting on your posts? Are you getting reviews? Are you responding?
Having a page and posting on your wall every day is not enough.
To really get seen more on Facebook, you need to be seen more on your page. And that means through real engagement.
Respond to comments and reviews on your page.
Don't be tempted just to do private replies, even with the new Message feature.
It's okay to send a private message when a private message is needed -- but be sure to reply publicly to acknowledge that you plan to reply privately as well.
I can't stress this enough for local businesses with Facebook pages that allow reviews. Don't just let people review you. Respond to those reviews, positive or negative.
Thank people for their good reviews. Ask people what you can do to turn a bad review around. Get seen more on Facebook by being more active on your own page!
Tip #4: Use Facebook as Your Page
I can't stress this enough -- and I feel like people don't do it enough.
You can comment on other pages as your page. So start doing it! It's a great way to get seen more on Facebook.
All of your pages are accessible via the dropdown at the top right of your Facebook screen.
Or you can go to your Pages listing and click the log in link next to the page you want to use Facebook as.
No, I will not screenshot mine, because it's embarrassing how many pages I have. Here's an example of what it looks like when you comment on another page as your page.
This is a great way to connect with your target customer base.
You don't want to do this on your direct competitor's pages, but rather on pages that are relevant to your industry.
You can also use your Facebook page on any site that uses Facebook Comments as the blog commenting system too -- like TechCrunch. Just switch over from your personal profile to your page.
Just make sure you're making business-related comments, and not commenting on celebrity gossip. Unless your Facebook page or target audience relates to celebrity gossip.
And speaking of using Facebook as your page...
Tip #5: Reply to Your Tagged Mentions
You know that Facebook pages can't participate on personal profiles. Well they can, if they are specifically mentioned / tagged in public posts.
So, watch your page mentions. If your page is mentioned, be sure to get in there with your page and continue the discussion.
Start by switching over to using Facebook as your page.
Click on the notification about the mention.
This will take you to your Notifications dashboard where you can reply to any mentions you receive as your page. Even on public posts from personal profiles -- as your page.
And now your page's comment is on a personal profile wall!
Unfortunately, the same doesn't apply to groups (although some page owners have said it does).
You will get notified that you have been tagged in a post in a public group, but you will have to use your personal profile to respond.
Which brings me to my next point…
Tip #6: Encourage People to Mention You
You can't expect the average, non-marketer to know that they can -- and should -- tag businesses in their posts. So teach them how to do it.
Let your fans know in a casual page post that when they mention you to their Facebook friends in a public post that they should add a @Your Business Name.
That's called word of mouth marketing that will help get you seen more on Facebook as the brand everyone has to try!
And ideally, you should be monitoring those mentions. Consider stopping by, thanking them for their post, and answering any questions their friends might have about your business.
Tip #7: Use New Features as They Become Available
Experts tell you not to chase the shiny objects in marketing. But when it comes to Facebook, it never hurts to try out the new features as they become available.
Since Facebook is trying to promote the new features -- we can assume that Facebook is more apt to promote those promoting their new features.
So if you have access to Facebook Live, use it!
Or if you're an advertiser and can get access to Facebook Canvas early, try it.
Ok, the latter isn't organic, but the point being... using new features can get you seen more on Facebook (especially if you get featured in Facebook's best usage examples).
Tip #8: Cross-Promote Across Social Media
Got large audiences on other social networks? Cross-promote your Facebook page to them.
Ask your other audiences to become a fan of your page, come over to comment on a discussion, answer a question, participate in a poll, enter a contest, etc.
The key is to link directly to either your Facebook page or the post you want people to engage with.
Don't ask people to search for you. You don't want to leave a connection opportunity between a fan and your Facebook page to chance.
And now, it's time to switch gears a little. Let's stop solely talking about your Facebook page for a bit.
Tip #9: It's Time to Accept That You'll Have to Use Your Personal Profile to Get Seen More on Facebook
Are you using your personal profile to help with your business marketing? If you aren't -- I hate to break the news to you, but you need to be. Or you need to at least consider it.
Facebook says that you can't use a Facebook profile for a business. That means you literally can't create a personal profile for your business.
But that doesn't mean you can't use your personal profile to get seen more on Facebook.
With that in mind…
Tip #10: Search for People Mentioning Your Business That Haven't Tagged You
If you use the search box at the top of Facebook, you'll likely find mentions of your business that don't include a tag of your Facebook page (potentially by friends and people in groups you belong to).
Depending on how "popular" your brand is -- you might even find whole groups about you, for better or worse.
At this stage, you'll need one or more people at your company who use personal profiles as brand representatives.
They'll need to go out and thank people for positive mentions or provide customer service.
This will help you get seen more on Facebook as a company that really cares about their customers and fans.
Tip #11: Join the Groups Your Customers Are Engaged In
There are two types of groups on Facebook.
Groups where people are engaging and groups where people are spamming. You want to be a part of the first group, not the second one.
And you want to be a part of the first group where your customers are.
The best way to find these groups is to track down the groups that experts in your industry belong to -- because they usually don't have time to waste on spammers.
How do you find these magical groups?
Use the search bar at the top of your Facebook screen and search for groups that [INSERT NAME OF THE EXPERT BUT WITHOUT THE BRACKETS] belongs to.
Happily, this search works regardless of whether or not you're friends with the person. It will reveal both public and closed groups that the person belongs to.
You'll find that some groups can be joined by anyone, while others are parts of private masterminds or paid access.
In some cases, you can get into highly engaged groups by paying a monthly fee or purchasing a course.
I can tell you from personal experience that in some cases, the value I have gained from the closed Facebook groups for courses has far outweighed materials of the courses themselves in the long run.
The point to joining these groups isn't to start advertising, marketing, or selling. It's to build yourself up as an authority in your space.
The key is to make sure that your business / Facebook page is listed as your current employer. That way, when people like what you have to say in the group, they will see your Facebook page link when they hover over your name.
So, the usage of your personal profile will help your business get seen more on Facebook.
Tip #12: Get on Board with Facebook Authorship
Remember that time Google tried to connect author's social profiles to their content?
Well, now Facebook is doing it. And it's time to get in on the action while the gettin is good.
If you write for a blog powered by WordPress, log in to your account and add your Facebook link in your user profile.
If you add your personal profile link, make sure you have turned your followers settings on. When your articles are shared on Facebook, it will result in the following:
Or you can use your Facebook page link, which will result in the following.
Alternatively, if you are adding in your Facebook Open Graph code manually, you'll need to include the following with your own profile or page URL.
It's just another way to help you get seen more on Facebook!
I know firsthand how frustrating it is not to be seen more in the news feed. But don't give up!

The most important tip on this list is about posting more interesting stuff.
When you learn how to tap into the kind of relevant content your audience finds interesting -- they'll begin engaging with you more.
