If you're like a lot of marketers out there, you're probably still planning out the year ahead.
I know I am!
If one of your goals this year is to boost engagement on your Facebook page, then running a monthly contest can really help.
As co-founder of Antavo, I see a lot of great contests hosted by a lot of great pages.
We've recently compiled the best contest ideas into an infographic showing one contest for every month of the year.
I've posted the infographic below... so enjoy!
12 Brilliant Contest Ideas for Facebook Pages (One for Each Month)
Before getting into the contest ideas, remember that you can run a Facebook contest using your page's Timeline or a 3rd party contest app.
- Apps work great for capturing email addresses & helping build your fan base because you can require people to Like your page before they see the content >> Click to Tweet
- Timeline contests help pump up your TAT (talking about this) number because entering the contest requires fans to Like or comment on a post -- or vote on an image in an album >> Click to Tweet
And remember that there at least 8 types of contests you can run:
- Coupon/group offer
- Photo contest
- Video contest
- Quiz
- Draw
- Essay contest
- Poll
- Giveaway
Anyway, here are 12 contest suggestions from the infographic (1 for each month):
January = White Sales
Distribute coupon codes or give away low-value, overstocked inventory on Facebook.
Remember -- people are hungry for bargains this time of year!
February = Valentine's Day
Run a photo contest to find out who the 3 cutest couples are.
Allow the couples & voters an opportunity to win prizes. This will help you increase your Facebook reach.
>> Click to Tweet <<
March = Spring Break
Ask fans to vote for their favorite DJ or the funniest video.
Draw winners from amongst the votes & allow those who vote multiple times to have a better chance of winning.
April = Egg Hunting
Get more Facebook fans with a like-gated quiz.
Ask a question about your brand (or the origin of egg hunting), and allow only those with the correct answer opportunities to win.
May = Mother's Day
Run a sweepstakes where the prize is something that kids & mothers can use together.
Even if your target audience is men -- many of them have a wife or mother.
June = Father's Day
Run a story contest where entrants can share a fond story or the best advice they have ever received from their father.
This one's all about the wisdom!
July = Independence Day
This is your opportunity to test how well people know their history with a light-hearted quiz.
Get more Facebook shares by encouraging entrants to tell their friends about the contest.
August = Summer Holidays
Ask fans to share their funniest summer holiday videos.
A jury may decide who wins -- but there can also be a people's choice winner.
September = Back to School
Ask your fans to vote for their favorite lunch box, summer reading or film character from back in their school days.
Moms LOVE this one!
October = Halloween
Business owners on Facebook should consider running a costume contest (70% of 18 to 24-year-olds plan to dress up) or a recipe contest.
Entrants can upload their photos via mobile as well.
November = Thanksgiving
You can be generous while driving sales at the same time.
Give away small-value coupons that can be redeemed in your shop or online.
December = Holidays
Run flash sweepstakes every advent weekend, where non-winners receive a redeemable coupon code.
Sequential sweepstakes will help increase engagement on Facebook because fans will come back.
